2021-2022 Mini-Workshop Series Completed

With the 10th Mini-Workshop, conducted by guest coach Jennifer Carpenter, today, June 4, 2022, our season series is complete. These monthly sessions, co-sponsored by HMRS and the Recorder Society of Connecticut (RSC), have been well-received and well-attended. Our organizations are so fortunate to have been able to provide these informative, challenging, and enjoyable experiences for our membership. We extend our gratitude to these outstanding members of the international recorder community for their willingness to create these presentations and to master the new technologies that make virtual presentations possible.

We are pleased to announce that the HMRS-RSC co-sponsorship will continue with another 10-part virtual series for the 2022-2023 season!

Helen Hooker…Live!

Our first virtual mini-workshop of 2022 featured a presentation by a pioneer of Youtube virtual play-along sessions, Helen Hooker. Helen presented encore presentations of several of her widely seen videos accompanied by a host of interesting background information, inciteful performance tips, historic tidbits and explanations and demonstrations of techniques ranging from adaptations of original notation to a comparison of Renaissance and Baroque ornamentation. The session was enjoyed by 34 participants.

Close out 2021 with some Christmas tunes at the next HMRS regular meeting on December 12 at 2pm

Celebrate the days leading to the holiday week with a virtual play-along with an emphasis on the extensive collection of Christmas music from the HMRS library. Kathy Kuhrt will lead us. The participation at meetings so far this season has been outstanding and I’m certain all will agree that staying in musical touch with friends is a bright spot on each month’s calendar. The officers of HMRS are heartened by the continued enthusiasm and optimism of the membership and join together to wish everyone a season of joy and a musical 2022!
