In person playing at Lynnwood Reformed Church

Our next in-person meeting is next Sunday, May 17at Lynnwood Reformed Church, starting at 2:00. Doors open at 1:30.
We are fortunate to welcome this session’s leader, Emory Waters, who joined our chapter recently. Emory has chosen David Hurd’s Sonata for Three in Four, Michael Grahams’s Four Bagatelles (you should already have this), and Glen Shannon’s Cloud Jaunt. In addition, we will have the pleasure of playing two movements from Emory Waters’ Recorder Serenade.
Emory grew up in Virginia, playing in various brass ensembles—lots of Gabrieli canzonas! He earned his BA in English from Amherst, MMus (Composition) from New England Conservatory, and was full-time faculty at Virginia State University and Union College. Most of his music-making has been as a horn player, conductor, or composer, at various times playing horn in the Richmond, Albany, and Petersburg (Virginia) Symphonies. In the 1970s, Emory conducted the Northeastern NY Youth Orchestra; in the 1980s and 1990s, he conducted The Music Company Orchestra. His interest in composing has produced works for orchestra, voices, and various chamber ensembles, including three operas (two of them in collaboration with his late wife, Mary Ann Waters) and two ballet scores
